Just weeks after the iPhone 5 release date, new Apple rumours have suggested that the iPad mini manufacturer is planning an iPhone 5S launch event for early 2013.
A seeming response to the newly launched Google Nexus 4, a high-end handset that boasts a wallet friendly price tag, latest reports have suggested that Apple has accelerated the certification process for its next-gen iPhone 5S due to manufacturing difficulties with the current iPhone 5.
Expected to sport the same exterior design as the market leading iPhone 5, the newly rumoured iPhone 5S has been claimed to be heading for a Q1 release following a possible March unveiling. What?s more, Apple is said to be shortening the lifespan of its handsets, shifting to a new six month product cycle for its dominant smartphone offering with newly revised iterations touching down twice a year, in March and September.
Although the latest reports, which have stemmed from Chinese news outlet the Commercial Times, should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt, it has been suggested that the Q1 iPhone 5S launch event will see Apple unveil the Samsung Galaxy S3 rival alongside a pair of new devices.
With a fifth-generation iPad tablet seemingly on the cards, the heavily rumoured Apple iTV television set is also expected to make an appearance in early 2013 as the Cupertino based company looks to branch out into a new market.
Stating that the as yet unconfirmed iPhone 5S will include a selection of hardware features Apple wished to incorporate within the iPhone 5 but could not implement in time, the Chinese source has added that "facing low yield rates in the production of iPhone 5, Apple has accelerated the certification processes for related parts and components for the iPhone 5S."
Apple has faced iPhone 5 stock shortage since the handset?s official release in late September. Having effected sales and caused the iPhone to hand over its crown as the world?s most popular smartphone to the Samsung Galaxy S3, dispatch times for iPhone 5 orders are still running at ?2-3 weeks?.
